The 2025-2026 Season Was One To Remember!
Sean Tarry Racing enjoyed another fine season in the 2025-2026 season.
The stable ended the season in second place on the South African trainers' premiership, with the Tarry Yard sending out runners to amass more than R17.836 million in prize money.
Among the many highlights of the season were Grand Empire’s triumph in the G1 HKJC World Pool SA Classic, Get Up winning both the G2 Allan Robertson Championship and G3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes, Callmegetrix landing the G2 Betway Joburg Spring F and M Challenge and G2 TAB Igugu Stakes, Rodeo Drive’s success in the G2 Mike De Kock Ipi Tombe Challenge, and the emergence of Tin Pan Alley.
The latter, a son of The United States, showed his class when he won all of the G1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes, G2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge and G3 Betway Graham Beck Stakes.
Sean also looks to have a very exciting sort in his yard in the form of Turn It Up. That son of Querari won three of four starts culminating in a devasting victory in the Race Coast Sales Slipper (Slipper fourth place finisher Erik Dubois would go on to land the G1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes).
The Tarry Yard also looks to have some very exciting prospects for the coming season, with the likes of Turn It Up, Get Up, Alice B Toklas, Within Reach, Secretary Bird and Ocean Mistress, among the three-year-olds set to represent the stable next season.
Sean and his team also bade farewell to their classy charge, Lucky Lad, with the latter set to stand his first season at Hopes And Dreams Stud in 2026.
A Gimmethegreenlight full-brother to G3 Fillies Mile winner Follow Me, Lucky Lad was a top- class performer who finished in the top three placings in eight graded stakes races.
Lucky Lad, who earned more than R2.464 million in prize money, won both the 2023 G1 Gold Medallion and G1 Golden Horse Sprint.
If he passes on half his ability to his offspring, then Lucky Lad should do very well at stud!
