Callmegetrix, Tin Pan Alley Shine In Betway Spring Challenge

Sean Tarry Racing had a wonderful day on Saturday, with the stable’s runners Callmegetrix and Tin

Pan Alley winning the G2 Betway Joburg Spring F And M Challenge and G2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge respectively.

Classy five-year-old Callmegetrix claimed the first graded stakes win of her career when she won the

Betway Joburg Spring F and M Challenge (1450m) at Turffontein.

Under Luyolo Mxothwa, Callmegetrix raced just off the pace early on, before Mxothwa bought his mount with a sustained challenge down the inside. Callmegetrix ran on strongly to hold off a very game Rodeo Drive and win by a long neck. It was nearly eight lengths back to third place finisher Destiny Of Fire.

The F and M Challenge was a great result for the Tarry yard, with the stable also saddling runner up Rodeo Drive.

Bred by Rathmor Stud, the Mario Ferreira owned Callmegetrix was making her second start for Sean Tarry Racing.

A tilt at the G2 Ipi Tombe Challenge could be on the cards for Callmegetrix, a daughter of Vercingetorix and the G3-placed Kabool mare Clarion Call.

It was a second consecutive win in the Betway Joburg Spring F And M Challenge for the yard, with the Tarry stable saddling Celtic Rumours (another by Vercingetorix) to win the race in 2024.

The stable look to have a very exciting three-year-old in the form of Tin Pan Alley. Runner up in last season’s G1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes, the gelding showed his class when he won Saturday’s Betway Joburg Spring Challenge (1450m). Under Malesela Katjedi, Tin Pan Alley took a hold in running but overcame a rough trip to get up close to home and win by nearly three parts of a length.

It was a first graded triumph for Malesela, who rode a superb race on Tin Pan Alley, with the latter having his first start as a gelding.

Bred by Moutonshoek, Tin Pan Alley, who looks a natural classic contender, races for the Wernars family and Dayalan Chinsammy.

A son of The United States, Tin Pan Alley is out of the Querari mare The Entertainer, a half-sister to dual graded stakes winner Silver Operator.

A big thanks go out to the staff at home, who continue to do such sterling work, as well as to Betway.
