Cloth Of Cloud Makes International Headlines

Champion Cloth Of Cloud, who raced for the Tarry yard, has made international news this year.

The daughter of Captain Al is the dam of one of the best two-year-olds seen out in Europe this year in the form of Drumbeat.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Drumbeat has won three of six starts, with the son of Wootton Bassett victorious in the G3 Native Trail Zetland Stakes and G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud in his last two starts.

Drumbeat added further depth to Aidan O'Brien's Classic battalion for next year in earning quotes of 14-1 for the Derby after landing the Criterium de Saint-Cloud. It was a second Group One of the weekend for O’Brien, who struck in the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday with Giant Sequoia.

“He is a lovely horse, handled the ground and got the trip well,” said O’Brien.

“He probably learned plenty today, which was great so we couldn’t be happier. He is a lovely horse to think about for next year.”

The progressive Drumbeat is out of Cloth Of Cloud, whom the Tarry Yard saddled to win all three starts at two, culminating in a courageous win in the G1 SA Nursery.

The notably temperamental Cloth Of Cloud was duly named Equus Champion 2YO Filly of 2015-2016.
