Griselda Game In Victory

Sean Tarry Racing is starting to fire on all cylinders, and the yard sent out classy three-year-old Griselda to win a good race at Turffontein on Saturday.

Making her first start since finishing unplaced behind stablemate Get Up in the G2 Allan Robertson Championship, the three-year-old daughter of Erik The Red was given a superb ride from Malesela Katjedi in Saturday’s For Hospitality Bookings Call 011 681 1796 Graduation Plate (1200m).

Making the most of a turnaround at the weights with runner-up Good Day Sunshine, Katjedi coaxed more out of Griselda, who fought out a ding-dong battle with Good Day Sunshine in the closing stages of Saturday’s contest.

The Tarry runner dug down deep to prevail by a neck, with her stablemate Tina Lovelace finishing fourth.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Griselda races for Antony and Angela Beck in partnership with Mark Hackner.

The filly, who finished runner-up in both the G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery (to Good Day Sunshine) and Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes last season, is out of Silvano’s G2 Gold Bracelet-winning daughter Gallica Rose.

The stable were arguably unlucky not to win again on Saturday, with the yard’s charge Xenophon just touched off when beaten a neck when runner-up in the eighth race on the card.
The Tarry stable also sent out Secret Getway to finish second in the third race and stablemate Alittlebitolove to fill the runner-up berth in race two.
