More wins are “Within Reach” for this filly!
The Tarry yard enjoyed a fine day at Turffontein on Thursday, with the stable’s charges Within Reach, Fire Storm and Tintin winning races two, five and nine, respectively.
Triple Crown winner Malmoos came up with his second winner when two-year-old filly Within Reach won the #Youcanbetonus! Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) over 1450m. Under Keagan De Melo, Within Reach, despite racing green, ran on strongly to get up close home and win on debut by just over three-parts of a length.
Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, the blue-blooded Within Reach races for the Wernars Family and Mukund Gujadhur.
Within Reason is certainly bred to need more ground, with her dam Jetorio being a twice-winning daughter of G1 JB Met winner River Jetez.
The addition of tongue-tie helped the smart Fire Storm win Thursday’s Racing Today MR 94 Open Handicap over 1600m.
Under a good ride from Craig Zackey, the lightly raced son of Pathfork kept galloping in the closing stages to get up and win by just over half a length.
Bred by the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, Fire Storm, who races for Kestorm Investments, has done little wrong in his brief career, with the three-year-old having won two of just four starts.
Classy four-year-old Tintin made it three wins in a row when he won Thursday’s TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 MR 96 Handicap.
A full brother to the yard’s Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes winner Secretary Bird, the son of Rafeef raced four lengths off the lead early on.
When Craig Zackey asked him the question, Tintin stormed home down the inside of the track and went on to win comfortably by nearly a length and a half.
Tintin, whose form included runner-up finishes to the high-class three-year-olds Splittheeights and Grand Empire, races for Glistian (Pty) Ltd and Soccershop.
The Klawervlei Stud-bred gelding has won three of just six starts and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
