Promising Filly “Lights” Up Turffontein

Lightinthewoods

The Tarry yard enjoyed a good day at Turffontein on Saturday, when the stable sent out Lightinthewoods and Turbo Power to win their respective races.

Promising two-year-old Lightinthewoods got off the mark in smart style when she won Saturday’s #Youcanbetonus! Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) 1400m.

Under a good ride from Muzi Yeni, Lightinthewoods, who was trying the trip for the first time on Saturday, struck the front 300m from home and kept galloping strongly to break her maiden by nearly two and a half lengths.

Yet to finish out of the first four, the Nadeson Park Stud-bred Lightinthewoods races for the Wernars Family, Dayalan Chinsammy & TKP Racing.

Saturday’s winner is a daughter of multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight and G2 Southern Cross Stakes queen Fairyinthewoods.

The Tarry Yard struck again on Saturday when six-year-old Turbo Power caused something of a surprise to win the TAB Telebet 011 074 0300 MR 74 Handicap.
Malesela Katjedi brought the son of Twice Over with a strong late run, and the pair got up, splitting runners close home, to score by half a length.

Now a five-time winner, the Klawervlei Stud-bred Turbo Power is owned by Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd.
Saturday’s winner is out of Sean’s former charge Off The Mark, who won five times, including the G3 Acacia Handicap, with Turbo Power, a half-brother to Longsword, who won for the stable on Tuesday.
