Prayers Shows Promise
Fresh off landing Saturday’s Listed Amusnet Devon Air Stakes with Alice B Toklas, Sean Tarry Racing enjoyed more feature races on Sunday.
The Tarry yard sent out promising two-year-old Prayersandpromises to land the Highveld Winter Juvenile Stakes (1400m).
Stepping up in trip from his previous start, Prayersandpromises stamped himself a horse to follow when running out a ready winner.
Under Craig Zackey, Prayersandpromises hit the line full of running while scoring by nearly two and a half lengths.
The son of Gimmethegreenlight is likely to line up next in the G2 Omoda Golden Horseshoe on July day.
Bred by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, the classy colt races for the ASSM Racing Syndicate.
Prayersandpromises, who had won at the second time of asking, is out of the Fort Wood mare Awayinthewoods, a twice-winning half-sister to the Tarry stable’s former talented charge Kilcoy Castle.
The stable went on to enjoy a double at Turffontein on Sunday when the Tarry-trained Tintin justified favouritism to win the ninth race in style.
Under log leading jockey Craig Zackey, four-year-old Tintin confirmed the merit of his last run when second to the progressive Errol Flyn when he won the #Youcanbetonus! MR 88 Handicap (1600m).
Tintin raced seven lengths off the pace early on, before Craig unleashed his mount and the pair drew clear to win by a length and three quarters.
Bred by Klawervlei, Tintin is a full-brother to the yard’s Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes winner Secretary Bird.
Now a four-time winner from nine starts, the son of Rafeef races for Glistian (Pty) Ltd, Soccershop and Mr Ragavan.
