Rafeef Fillies Score At Turffontein
Sean Tarry Racing enjoyed a double at Turffontein on Saturday courtesy of a pair of Rafeef fillies.
The first daughter of Rafeef to score for the yard on Saturday was Gulf Of America, who won the second race on the card.
Under Keagan De Melo, Gulf Of America kept finding in the closing stages to beat runner up Fiery Frolic by half a length.
Bred by Ndoro Stud, Gulf Of America, who races for Dayalan Chinsammy and the Wernars Family, was making her fourth start on Saturday.
The well bred filly is out of the Visionaire mare Samish Bay, a half-sister to champion King Pelles as well as the G1 SA Derby winners Hero’s Honour and Legend Of Arthur.
The Tarry yard claimed the very next race when Rafeef filly Lovable just got up to land the For Hospitality Bookings Call 011 681 1796 Maiden Plate (1160m).
Another partnered by Keagan De Melo, the three-year-old, who was making just her second start on Saturday, got up in the shadow of the post to break her maiden by nearly half a length.
Lovable gave Dayalan and the Wernars Family another win, as they race her in partnership with Aden and Jarryd Lahoud and TKP Racing.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the well bred (and named) Lovable is out of the very speedy Listed Umngeni Handicap winner Kissable.
