Trajanus, Maverick Queen Score At Turffontein

Sean Tarry Racing struck twice at Turffontein on Thursday.

The consistent Trajanus was rewarded for consistency when he won the Racing Today Maiden Plate over 1000m.

Under Craig Zackey, the grey powered home to break his maiden by an easy three lengths.

Bred by Riethuiskraal, Trajanus races for Messrs Dayalan Chinsammy, D Jessa, A Lahoud, Jarryd Lahoud, E Naicker, Larry Pogir & TKP Racing.

A son of Danon Platina, Trajanus had preceded his win on Thursday by finishing second in each of his only three previous starts.

The yard’s second success on Thursday came when Maverick Queen made all to win the Allied Steelrode Charity Mile 1 November FM 74 Handicap over 1200m.

Under apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia, the four-year-old kept going courageously in front with Maverick Queen staying on gamely to win by a short-head.

Owned by Haraka Bloodstock (J Pieters), G Ambrose, C Spalding, D & M Slade, S & T Cawdry, B Taylor, D Priest, A Doyle, L Du Plessis & B Holland, Maverick Queen was bred by the La Berg Stud.

The Captain Of All filly is out of Rebel Queen, a stakes-winning half-sister to champion Rebel King.
