2025: Another Great Year!

The curtain is falling on the current year, with the past 12 months having been another fine season for Sean Tarry Racing.

The yard enjoyed plenty of feature race success during the year, with the Tarry yard set to unleash a number of exciting prospects next year.

Classy gelding Cosmic Speed showed his class when he won the 2025 G1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes for the Kuhns, Krishen Naidoo and the Honourable Mr Justic Kruger. The son of Querari powered home, under a fine ride from Craig Zackey, to claim the R1 500 000 feature by a length and a half.

Legend Of Arthur was another of the stable’s inmates to enjoy G1 success during the year. A Lancaster Bomber half-brother to champion King Pelles and G1 SA Derby winner Hero’s Honour, the Drakenstein Stud-bred colt ran on strongly, under a great ride from Richard Fourie, to claim the G1 TAB SA Derby in the shadow of the post. Legend Of Arthur won the Derby for owners Mr and Mrs Gardner, Mark Currie, Mr Millar and Drakenstein Stud.

The classy Mia Moo was undoubtedly one of the stable stars of 2025. Originally raced by Sandy and Eugene Arundel in partnership with World Sports Betting, the daughter of Vercingetorix was later sold to Drakenstein Stud. During 2025, the Klawervlei Stud bred Mia Moo won four black type races, including the G1 South African Fillies Sprint, G2 TAB Camellia Stakes and G3 4Racing Sycamore Sprint.

The stable enjoyed a notable feature race double in April when the well-bred fillies One Fine Winter and Green Diamond won the G3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes and G3 Protea Stakes, respectively, with Green Diamond having also triumphed in the G2 TAB SA Nursery. Both One Fine Winter and Green Diamond race for breeders Drakenstein Stud. Remarkably, on the same day, their stablemates Mia Moo and Let’s Go Now won the G2 TAB Camellia Stakes and G2 TAB Colorado King Stakes, respectively!

The Drakenstein Stud-bred and owned Green Sapphire was another to do the Tarry stable proud in 2025. The regally bred daughter of Gimmethegreenlight won both the G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes and the G2 HKJC World Pool Tibouchina Stakes.

The yard enjoyed yet more graded stakes success in 2025 when Callmegetrix and Tin Pan Alley won the G2 Betway Joburg Spring F and M Challenge and G2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge, respectively, on the same card.

Bred by Rathmor Stud, Callmegetrix races for Mario Ferreira and the Camargue Stud Syndicate, while classy sophomore Tin Pan Alley, who had captured the G3 Betway Graham Beck Stakes earlier in the season, is owned by the Wernars Family and Dayalan Chinsammy.

Classy four-year-old Rodeo Drive earned a well-deserved first graded win in the G2 Mike De Kock Ipi Tombe Challenge. The daughter of the underrated stallion The United States (also the sire of Tin Pan Alley) was bred by Sandown Stud. Now an equine millionaire, Rodeo Drive races for Haraka Bloodstock, G Ambrose, K Maher, C Spalding, DS & MJ Slade, S & T Cawdry, B Taylor, D Priest, and AD Holland.

The stable would like to thank all its loyal owners and stalwart supporters. May you all have a prosperous New Year and wonderful festive season!
