Double Trouble At The Vaal

Sean Tarry Racing have had a great few days, and their fine run continued when the yard sent out both Secretary Bird and Jordan to win at the Vaal on Thursday.

Promising two-year-old Secretary Bird built on a promising debut when she ran out a convincing winner of Thursday’s Racing Today Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1000m).

Under Ryan Munger, the daughter of Rafeef kicked on nicely in the closing stages to go away and win by two lengths, with Secretary Bird having finished third on her only previous start.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the filly races for the ASSM Racing Syndicate.

Secretary Bird, who is out of the Captain Al mare Secretariat’s Girl, is from a family that Sean knows with well, with her rivals including the Tarry’s G1 South African Fillies Sprint winner Mia Moo.

Consistent gelding Jordan provided the yard with more success on Thursday when he won the #Youcanbetonus!MR86 Handicap (2000m).

Under a good ride from Keagan De Melo, the five-year-old pulled out more in the closing stages to score by a long neck.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Jordan is owned by Haraka Bloodstock (Nom: J Pieters), G Ambrose, K Maher, C Spalding, D S & M J Slade, M A Currie, K Govender, A & J Lahoud, and L Pogir.

A son of Silvano, Jordan is out of the useful Dynasty mare Noor, with Noor a half-sister to the Silvano-sired G3 winner Platinum Class.
