Sunday Four-Timer

Sean Tarry Racing celebrated a four-timer on Sunday when the yard sent out a quartet of winners at Turffontein.

The yard kicked off the day in style when the Tarry yard sent out Trail Runner and Space Mission to win the first two races. Sean and his team followed up with Warning Sound and Tintin winning races six and nine, respectively, to give the stable a memorable day indeed!

Inform jockey Keagan De Melo partnered Trail Runner to win Sunday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1160m). The four-year-old daughter of Lancaster Bomber ran on strongly to break her maiden by over a length and three-quarters, with Trail Runner having been second or third in her three starts prior to Sunday’s win. Trail Runner, who is out of the Western Winter mare Iditarod, races for breeder Lammerskraal Stud and Dr Adrian Schmidt.

The yard struck again in the very next race when Space Mission landed the Racing Today Maiden Plate (1160m). A full-brother to G1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes winning sire MK’s Pride, the three-year-old benefitted from a drop back in trip to shed his maiden by an emphatic four and a half lengths. Always up with the pace under Craig Zackey, Space Mission outclassed his rivals when staying on well to win as he liked. Bred by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, Space Mission is owned by Messrs G G Anthony, A Lahoud, Jarryd Lahoud, Larry Pogir, S Poriazis, Sivan Ramsamy & Wernars Family.

The well-bred Warning Sound picked up the third win of her career when she won the Guineas Day 7 February FM 94 Divided Handicap (1600m). A daughter of Lancaster Bomber and Sean’s former stable star Siren’s Call, the filly was given a fine ride by Mickaelle Michel to win the 1600m contest. Warning Sound hit the front 400m from home and kept going to win by nearly a length and a half. Owned by her breeder Drakenstein Stud in partnership with Caroline Rupert, Warning Sound is a decent filly who needed to strengthen up prior to her latest win.

Sean and his yard also sent out the promising Tintin to win the ninth and final race at Turffontein. Making just his fifth start, the four-year-old son of Rafeef made it back-to-back wins with a fine display in the Next Turffontein Racemeeting Saturday 7 February Middle Stakes MR 85 Handicap (1400m). Under Craig Zackey, Tintin hit the front close home and pulled away to score impressively by two and a half lengths.

A full brother to the yard’s promising filly Secretary Bird, Tintin races for Glistian (Pty) Ltd & Soccershop. The gelding, described by Craig Zackey as a “proper horse” in the post-race interview, was bred by Klawervlei Stud.

Well done to the team back home whose hard work continues to ensure such great results, and thank you to all the loyal supporters of the stable.
