Sean Tarry Racing enjoyed a big day at Turffontein on Thursday. Runners from the stable won four of the five races that they participated in, running second in the other.
Ubermensch gained a well-deserved first win when the son of Querari won Thursday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Work Riders Maiden Plate (1450m).
Under a good, front-running ride from Chamu Mabaya, Ubermensch turned Thursday’s race into a one-horse race as he drew off to win by four and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Millstream Farm, the gelded four-year-old is owned by Sean Tarry Racing.
Classy three-year-old Speedman made it three wins from four starts when he won the Racing Today Graduation Plate (1450m).
Under Ryan Munger, the son of Vercingetorix tracked the front-running Bristol Hercules before hitting the front close to home and staying on to win by nearly a length. It was a smart performance from Speedman, who was under sufferance in Thursday’s race.
Bred by Dr Kritzinger, the blue-blooded Speedman (his dam is a G3-winning daughter of Trippi) races for Mrs Hester Kuhn, Messrs Aidan Lahoud, Jarryd Lahoud, Larry Pogir & Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd .
The yard’s third success on Thursday came when Care Forgot won the Classic Day 7 March FM 100 Divided Handicap (1450m).
A four-year-old daughter of The United States, Care Forgot raced well off the pace early on. Craig Zackey brought the filly home with a strong run down the centre of the track, and She got up to win by over two and a quarter lengths. Owned by Lance Michael, Care Forgot added another victory on Thursday, taking her career record to five wins
Bred by Moutonshoek, Care Forgot is out of the Hawk Wing mare Love Unlimited.
Sean and his team’s great run continued when the yard’s Trail Runner won the eighth and final race on Thursday.
Under Ryan Munger, Trail Runner made it back-to-back wins when she won the Next Turffontein Racemeeting Saturday 14 February FM 79 Divided Handicap (1450m).
Given a well-judged ride, the filly split runners when powering home late to win cosily by just over a length.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud (who own the filly in partnership with Dr Adrian Schmidt), Trail Runner is a daughter of Lancaster Bomber and the Western Winter mare Iditarod.
