Lucky Awesome, Utsaah Shine On Betway Spring Challenge Day
Sean Tarry Racing enjoyed a cracking double at Turffontein on Saturday, with the yard sending out Lucky Awesome and Utsaah to win races one and three, respectively.
Making just his fourth career start, One World gelding Lucky Awesome duly got off the mark when he won the Betway Maiden Plate (1450m).
Under a well-judged ride from champion jockey Craig Zackey, the three-year-old fought out the finish with favourite Le Concierge, with Lucky Awesome getting up to win by just over three parts of a length. Bred by Ian Van Schalkwyk, Lucky Awesome is owned by Sai Wai Liu.
His stablemate Utsaah provided the Tarry stable with a second success on Betway Spring Challenge day when she won the Betway MR 80 Handicap (2600 m) in convincing fashion.
An eye-catching winner of her previous start, Utsaah took the step up in trip in her stride, powering home, under Keagan De Melo, to pick up her third career win by two and three-quarter lengths.
Bred by Camargue Stud, the daughter of Capetown Noir is owned by ASSM Racing Syndicate, who remain one of the stable’s most stalwart supporters.
The Tarry yard had also enjoyed success at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday night, where the promising and regally bred Gimme Sunshine had scored an eye-catching maiden win.
Well done to all the winning connections!
