Get Up Wows In Allan Robertson Championship
The Tarry yard’s great record at Hollywoodbets Scottsville’s principal meeting continued on Saturday when the yard sent out classy filly Get Up to win the G2 Allan Robertson Championship (1200m).
An impressive winner of the G3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes last time out, Get Up made it back-to-back graded stakes wins with a fluent performance on Saturday.
Under a well-judged ride by Gavin Lerena, the two-year-old daughter of What A Winter was always up with the pace in Saturday’s R750 000 contest.
Get Up continued to gallop strongly, and she pulled away in the closing stages to win by nearly three and a half lengths.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Get Up has won three of just four starts and is clearly one of the best fillies of her generation thus far.
The blue-blooded filly, a half-sister to this season’s G3 Byerley Turk winner Malmesbury Missile, is out of Equus Champion Gabor, a daughter of the ill-fated Kingsbarns.
