Theme Announced For The Betway Summer Cup
A new theme, Jozi Rising, was announced for the 2025 Betway Summer Cup on Tuesday.
The theme was announced at a ceremony which took place at Level Three’s panoramic rooftop location in Kramerville.
Originally named the Johannesburg Handicap and inaugurated on 15 June 1887, the Betway Summer Cup is Johannesburg’s oldest and most storied race and the marquee meeting of the 4Racing calendar. This year, the Summer Cup will be run for a purse of R6 000 000, making it the richest race run in South Africa.
The event is proudly headlined by Betway, with support from TAB, Racing Today, Racing 240, New Turf Carriers and BET International – all committed to enhancing the race day experience and broadening its reach.
Lifestyle and broadcast heavyweight, BET Africa (DStv channel 129) has joined Betway, New Turf Carriers, TAB, Racing 240, Racing Today and Ticketpro as event partners for this year’s event. “The Betway Summer Cup is a celebration of African excellence, creativity, and vibrant culture—values that are deeply embedded in BET’s DNA. The Tarry yard will be looking to continue their wonderful record in the Summer Cup this year. The stable has saddled all of Aslan, Liege, Tilbury Fort, Zillzaal, and Flying Carpet to win Gauteng’s showpiece race.
