Vercingetorix Gelding Shows Speed On Debut
Sean Tarry Racing was responsible for an eye-catching debut winner at Turffontein on Sunday.
The beautifully bred Speedman made the perfect start to his career when he won the first race on Sunday.
Under a well judged ride from Craig Zackey (who had also ridden Speedman’s dam), the Vercingetorix gelding powered home to get up and win Sunday’s Betway Maiden Plate (1160m) by a neck.
It was a smart performance from the three-year-old Speedman, and there should be more to come from him.
Owned by the Kuhns, Aidan Lahoud, Jarryd Lahoud, Larry Pogir and Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd, Speedman is out of the Trippi sired G3 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Speedy Suzy, a half-sister to G3 Protea Stakes winner Olympic Owen.
